Coronavirus Effect on a College Student

What is to come?

The coronavirus has probably affected every college student. Some have an extended spring break; some have their classes shifted to online platforms. And it probably is driving everybody insane, especially me. Maybe my parents, too. For me, my classes are shifted online, and I don’t have to move YET. Harvard students have to move out by Sunday, and I have to say good luck.

However, there are still multiple possibilities of something changing within these couple of days. Teachers and students are all trying to figure everything out. And it is especially hard for the students that need to find a way of transportation.

Most of my international friends are planning to stay in their own residences. They can’t fly back even when their parents are asking them to come back. However, some are still on the fence about it. It is risky, and there are many steps involved in this whole process. Examples include checkpoints at every transfer and self-quarantines.

Safe travels to everyone, and we all just have to weigh the pros and cons.

I am really seeing more of the severity of this whole situation. I really did not expect Harvard to set their rules so soon. It was a standard for the rest of the colleges to also follow in some similar form. The number of deaths and cases just keep increasing. And every update of the situation hasn’t been really positive. This and that are being canceled or postponed. Waking up to the negative news every morning has driven everyone crazy.

Everyone is continuously looking at the numbers going up and up. We have all started to ridiculously buy anything that is still left in store. The prices of necessities keep increasing due to the drastic demand. There is so much going on. And COVID-19 doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.

College students including myself are probably all just waiting for the next update. For the schools that don’t have to move out yet, what are we going to do?

What about online education? What about the tuition and college fees? Can I even really focus at home? Because I am sure I can find a distraction every second of my life when I am actually supposed to be doing homework. I can just chill and write 10 articles (I just don’t know about the quality). I am sure you get the point.

If everyone is home and our summer break is basically extended. Will it be play, play, and play?

There are so many questions, and most of them don’t even have a definitive answer. It is mentally and physically draining. Sigh. I haven’t even started mentioning the seniors that are graduating.

Many unanswered questions and too many factors involved. This was just a rant article. I couldn’t hold it anymore. I hope everyone stays safe and healthy. Everybody is working hard to make the best decisions and compromises. This whole process is not easy, and we all have to be understanding and considerate of everyone. There are many that are working to find a solution to end all of this, and It will take time and energy.

Let us all hope for the best.

Hello. Welcome to my crazy and strange mind. Sometimes I rant, but you just gotta go with the flow.
